Representatives of the Directorate of Public Works visited works on projects in the municipality of Berane

On Tuesday, July 31, 2018, a working visit was organized on projects for improvement of the water supply system, construction of wastewater treatment plant and construction of sewerage network in the municipality of Berane.

At the very beginning, Almer Kalač explained that, although due to numerous problems, the projects as a whole are not following the planned dynamics. "The construction of a wastewater treatment plant is a project that is successfully completed, although bad weather conditions are not in favor of us," said the director of the Directorate of Public Works, adding that works on this project and works on the plant will be completed by the end of the year, and that it was left to build 4.5 km of sewerage network. The implementation will be speeded up in order to meet deadlines and successfully finish the project by the end of the year or at the beginning of the next.

Darko Stojanović, manager of the municipality of Berane, pointed out that the municipality is satisfied with the dynamics of the works on the construction of the wastewater treatment plant and the part concerning the water supply system, but that they do not share the satisfaction with the current dynamics when it comes to the project of the sewerage network. "In the forthcoming period, joint efforts will be made to successfully implement all projects in the foreseen deadlines, to the satisfaction of, first of all, all citizens of Berane", added the manager of Berane Municipality.

Work visits to projects are organized on a monthly basis, and this time was also open to media representatives in order to inform the general public with the course of project activities, the main purpose of which is to improve the environmental management system in accordance with the standards of the European Union.

The total value of the projects is 12 million euros, of which 85% is financed from the IPA funds of the European Union.

The projects are defined in the Multi-Annual Operational Program "Regional Development" 2012-2013, from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) under Component III "Regional Development", as well as in the Financing Agreement signed between the Government of Montenegro and the European Commission in December 2014.
